Can you imagine drying the tears of a starving child halfway around the world? building a home for a displaced family? We can!
Musicians of Mercy (MOM) is a collective of over seventy independent musicians and artists based in the Metropolitan D.C. area. Founded and directed by violist Robin Fay Massie, the group was formed in January 2010 following Haiti's devastating earthquake. Through the production of themed benefit concerts, MOM raises funds for victims of natural disasters and other tragedies.
What makes us unique?
All performers volunteer their time and talents in concerts that are free or open to the public with a nominal admission fee. We believe that great music should be accessible to the entire community. MOM showcases all musical genres from rock to jazz to classical. We feature gifted solo performing artists, chamber ensembles, jazz combos, dancers, poets, and a full orchestra.
When can you hear one of our performances?
Stay tuned! We have produced nine successful concerts since February 2010 and are currently working on our next one!
Why do we perform?
We aim to restore hope and unity to this suffering world by partnering with local and international charities. Each concert is a "marriage" with a different charity for a different cause. Proceeds from our concerts are sent directly to those charities. We have raised nearly $15,000 ... and counting!
Thanks for your interest!
