A Benefit Concert for Midwest US Tornado Relief

7:00 p.m. @ Creme Restaurant Lounge, Baltimore, MD

Featuring jazz to classical, hip-hop to spoken word, including vocalist Integriti Reeves of Afro-Blue Vocal Band; Ray Winder Trio; original music by Gordon Green; violists Jim Kelly of The Potter Violin Co., Derek Smith, Annelisa Guries, and Robin Fay Massie, MOM Executive Director; Bryan "Lyric" Winslow, Poet; Pianists Russell Wilson and Lillian Green with solos by Rebecca Lemus (clarinet), Barbara Bowen (flute), William McCulley (bassoon) and Nathan Royer (trombone); and the Todd Marcus Jazz Trio.

Suggested Donation: $15

Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity International Disaster Corps.  Food and drink available for purchase!

American Music Therapy Association Conference

Special thanks to Molly Griest and our friends at American Music Therapy Association, Inc. for the invitation to perform at their 2012 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference! We're grateful to our volunteer musicians: MOM String Orchestra, Maestro Igor Sarmientos, Jason Labrador of Labrador Entertainment (baritone), the lovely Integriti Reeves of Afro-Blue, and the very fierce Warren Wolf on keys! We also thank Jacob Berg for his arrangement of "Lullaby" as performed by Jason Labrador and Jonathan Palevsky, Program Director of WBJC 91.5 FM. We had a ball and performed for our largest audience to date -- over 650 listeners!

A Benefit for Thrive City String Academy

7:30 p.m. @ Christ Episcopal Church, Columbia, MD

Each summer, Thrive City String Academy molds inner-city music students into confident  young performers.  This benefit concert honored TCSA and its Executive Director John Littlejohn who traveled all the way from Vancouver, Canada to perform with us!  With original music by Mr. Littlejohn himself, acclaimed New York-based violinist-arranger Juliette Jones, composer Vincent Gover, and alternative artists Mosno Al-Moseeki, Sahffi, Beau Soir Ensemble and William Soul, this was an evening to remember!

12:30 p.m. @ Fine Arts Theater, Baltimore City Community College, Liberty Campus

This free concert celebrated Baltimore City Community College's presence in our community.  Featuring Jonathan Palevsky, Program Director at WBJC 91.5 FM playing the music of J.S. Bach on electric guitar (seriously!); Venezuelan folk songs; and more classical music offerings by J.S. Bach, Verdi and Mozart, you may consider this your dessert for the day.

Kids Are Heroes Day!

2:00 p.m. @ Francis Scott Key Mall, Frederick, MD

Our efforts were recognized by Gabe O'Neill, President of Kids Are Heroes!  KAH  recognizes youth who make a positive impact on their communities.  MOM Orchestra showcased Young Artists Daniela Bahia (violin), Erika Koscho (violin) and Christina Paton (viola) during this year's Kids Are Heroes Day.  Robin Fay Massie presented awards as an "adult hero," an honor for which she is very grateful.

FIRN's 30th Anniversary Celebration: Empowering Survivors of Violent Crime

7:00 p.m. @ Christ Episcopal Church, Columbia, MD

This concert in support of FIRN — Howard County-based nonprofit organization — featured MOM's full orchestra and William Soul.  FIRN empowers immigrants, refugees, asylees and other foreign-borrn individuals by helping them to access community resources and opportunities.

We appreciate pre-concert donations and will also accept donations upon admission! 

Proceeds benefited FIRN's U-Visa program which assists victims of domestic violence and other violent crimes.  Thanks for your support!

Black & White A.R.E. Music Benefit for HIV

8:00 p.m. @ The Lodge, Boonsboro, MD

This themed concert was presented by Jason Labrador of Labrador Entertainment, LLC. Featuring MOM's Rock String Quartet led by Mr. Labrador, Chad D., Michael Ehlers, DJ Philly Cheze, Jennifer Warner, Stephanie Michaels, and Ashley Bannks, this event benefited the AIDS Response Effort (A.R.E.) of Winchester, VA, Inc.

The theme is black & white — dress to impress!

A Benefit Concert for Japan's Disaster Relief

7:30 p.m. @ Christ Episcopal Church, Columbia, MD

This concert was presented in honor of the victims of the March earthquake and tsunami in Japan.  Proceeds were sent to World Vision to aid in reconstruction and providing clean water and food for survivors.

Stand for Love

5:00 p.m. @ First Unitarian Church of Baltimore, Baltimore, MD

In memory of recent victims of bullying-induced youth suicide, proceeds were donated to Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and Youth Frontiers for their work with educators, government leaders and students, fostering safer school environments.

Goddard Space Flight Center: Benefit Concert for Haiti

3:00 p.m. @ NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD

In a fundaiser to benefit the American Red Cross, NASA presented a program which included guest speakers from NASA, the Haitian Embassy, the American Red Cross, and a special performance by the MOM Orchestra which was joined by belly dancer Nina Amaya.

A Benefit Concert for Haiti

5:00 p.m. @ Old St. Paul's Church, Baltimore, MD

This inaugural MOM concert was presented in honor of the victims of the earthquake disaster in Haiti.  This full program included jazz, orchestral selections, chamber music.  Proceeds were donated to Save the Children.
